The influence of seasons on hot melt adhesives

Hot-melt adhesives are very sensitive to changes in ambient temperature, and products bonded with hot-melt adhesives must be designed with this factor in mind. High-quality hot melt adhesive can withstand the test of the four seasons, especially in winter and summer. So in the production process of hot melt adhesive, what properties will be affected by the season?

Hot-melt adhesive products have good stickiness and flexibility in summer, but lose their stickiness and toughness in winter; products in winter will appear degumming or water seepage, wire drawing and glue overflow in summer. The hot melt adhesive product has poor weather resistance, which makes the product prone to problems when the season changes.

This is the design of the product without considering the influence of winter and summer on hot melt adhesives. For example: the curing reaction time of hot melt adhesives (also known as open development time) is a very important factor that affects the viscosity of hot melt adhesives. Since the hot melt adhesives are basically constructed at room temperature, the room temperature difference between winter and summer is very large. At this time, the curing time of hot melt adhesives is different. The curing time of the same product should be shortened in summer, and the curing time should be extended in winter. Only in this way can the employees complete the bonding action before the hot melt adhesive solidifies in different seasons.

While adjusting the curing time of the hot melt adhesive, it is necessary to add some other additives to slightly change the hot melt adhesive formula, so that the hot melt adhesive can better exert its viscosity at different ambient temperatures and ensure the weather resistance of the hot melt adhesive .
