Hot melt pressure sensitive adhesive performance and its influencing factors

2021/03/17

       Hot-melt pressure-sensitive adhesive is pressure-sensitive hot-melt adhesive. In its production process, special equipment is used to melt and coat hot melt adhesive to make various products. These products can be glued under finger pressure, so they are pressure sensitive. Specifically, hot melt pressure-sensitive adhesives have five major properties: initial viscosity, retention viscosity, softening point, peel strength and melt viscosity, which are affected by the following factors. The softening point of hot melt adhesive and its influence;

       Hot-melt pressure-sensitive adhesives will gradually melt when heated at high temperatures, which is the characteristic of adhesives. It can be understood literally that different types of hot-melt pressure-sensitive adhesives melt at different temperatures, which is also a commonly used parameter index when comparing adhesives. The softening point is the temperature at which the hot melt adhesive melts when heated, and is the application of the above parameters.

       Generally speaking, the softening point can reflect the melting difficulty and temperature resistance of the hot melt adhesive. The common overflow phenomenon of pressure-sensitive adhesive products is also determined by the softening point of the hot melt adhesive. The softening point of hot melt pressure sensitive adhesive is affected by the following factors.

1. The influence of some tackifying resins on the softening point of hot melt adhesives:

2. The influence of specific plasticizer addition ratio on the softening point of hot melt adhesive:

3. The influence of thermoplastic rubber on the softening point in the hot melt adhesive formulation.
